Ever have a duh moment? One of those times where you smack yourself upside the head and roll your eyes at your own incompetence? This totally just happened to me when someone suggested to me that I just tell my readers I accept advertising.
Of Course!
Who better to advertise on my blog than the people who read it daily and really respect the things I have to say?
Don’t be scared to put yourself out there and tell your readers you are accepting advertising!
But, remember some things–make sure they understand that you are only accepting quality advertising, and that they are going to want to see your traffic, so you need to be willing to show that off, and to say no to advertising you aren’t interested in.
Also, don’t announce to the world how much you charge for advertising on your blog, you never know when you might want to change that magic number!

I definitely agree that you should let your readers know. I don’t agree about not telling them what you charge though – especially if you’re a ‘small time’ publisher. Many will assume that you’re too expensive if you don’t display a price.
‘Big time’ publishers don’t like to publish because they want to provide specific pitches to individual potential advertisers, which makes sense.
Sure, your price may flex as your blog grows, but don’t let that stop you from posting the current price. You can always add a notation that your prices are subject to change.

Smart!! That is a great idea. Once I have enough traffic on my blog I will have to do this! I am just building the traffic!

Yeah, it is always good to tell your readers you accept advertising. I have had a few of my readers on kushmoney buy advertising because they like my blog. Also, Don’t be afraid to say how much you charge. You can always can that price the next week, the next month. Its up to you. Remember, its your blog.

I’m with Danielle…I’m just building traffic and content right now. Once I’m ready…I’ll pull the trigger. Or, I might just add certain affiliates that I believe in to start.
